WHERE TO WALK AND WHERE NOT TO WALK
When walking outdoors, always use sidewalks. However, some neighborhoods don't have sidewalks, so you will need to either walk on the grass or dirt adjacent to the road or on the road. Walking on the road should be the last resort. Never walk on a road without adult supervision.
TRAFFIC SIGNS & SIGNALS
When walking to school, riding your bike to the park, or riding in a car with your family, you see many different traffic signs and signals. Why do we need traffic signs and signals, and what does each one mean?
- Traffic signs and signals help pedestrians and drivers maintain a safe, orderly flow of traffic.
- Some signs and signals use colors and symbols to inform pedestrians and drivers of what to do while others tell you what to do, such as STOP, DO NOT ENTER, and SPEED LIMIT.
There are lots of signs, but every single one is designed to keep you safe.
